There is no right answer here it is more a matter of opinion. Just as much as Windows versus Mac. They both have there pluses. So basically you will have to figure that one on your own.
I need a compiler with a can of RAID built into it

I do not know much about pascal, but I know C++ is very mainstream and used by a lot of people. You will benefit from knowing C++ immensely if you are going into software engineering of any kind.

Very true. May I add regarding these kinds of questions in general; it can also depend heavily on the project. For some projects X language would be more suitable than Y or Z language, for others not.

Having said that, it is equally true that
