Looking for programmers video game team

Postby acting15 on Sat Aug 15, 2009 7:04 pm

I'm trying to get a few people together to make games, just a few programmers, 3d artists, and story writers. No starting pay but when we get a game finished and make money of course we all will profit. This is not a get rich in a day kind of thing I'm being very realistic about this so dedicated people are welcome to contact me and ask questions. Thanks. applestarr1@hotmail.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false

I emailed you, I will take a stab at this for the fun of it. Im working on learning more C++ and some directx10 graphics. Any chance you know what kind of graphics you want to run? We need to get a well defined plan going before any kind of development commences. Also we need to make sure we all get knowledgeable on whatever we choose to use. This could very well take a long time, but it would be a good way to keep practicing on programming, and development of software in general.

To be honest, selling the game would be way too much work. You would need to pay a lawyer for copyright information etc. Unless you have a few grand to invest, and dont mind taking a MAJOR risk, dont bother trying to sell the game.

Hm...well I would like to join but my main purpose would be learning while creating game. If you think I can do that, sure - I will try to help but don't expect too much :)

Also, what kind of game did you had in mind? What library or engine would we use?

I have been talking to acting15 via email. his idea is to do a bowling game.

I'm thinking (from a technical standpoint and team standpoint) that we should downsize to tetris. Maybe put our own spin on it, adding shapes etc. We could have some newer artists draw some 2-d shapes for us, and the background. Not only will this give the programmers some practice in graphics, we could give practice to a couple of artists. This project will also test how well we work as a team. Its better to get a baseline of how well we work on a game that we have finished and can attain within a few weeks of development. Although bowling seems simple in concept, it would require 3d graphics, AI(if we want the game to be played against a computer), physics, we would need a decent 3-d modeler who has the software to model with. Also on top of that we would need a programmer to implement all of the 3-d stuff. It would be hard work, and for a first project it could just split the group.

That being said, I dont know what library or engine we are using. I have heard of a 2d engine called Troll2d. And I am going to be learning DirectX10 (I dont know if it can be used for 2-d stuff)

I am lot into Allegro game library, maybe you should look into that + SDL, it's really more powerful then Troll2D.

you really are .... well okay just plain stupid or huh?

Do you even know how long it takes, and with how many people to create a game like assassin's creed 2?
I think it will require like 5 programmers, 80 graphical designers and 2-5 years to create that.

You don't really think you're going to find it here?
Cheese tastes good!
